Services & Supports
In 1963 Colorado created a community-centered system to manage and provide supports and services for Colorado's citizens with developmental disabilities and their families. This system establishes locally accountable, nonprofit organizations called Community Centered Boards (CCBs) as the entry points for services. Each CCB serves a geographic area and provides eligibility determination, needs assessment, service plan development, arrangement of services, delivery of services, funding allocation, and many other functions to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.

CCBs have fostered successful working relations with Service Provider Organizations (SPOs) to ensure that the needs of each and every individual they serve are being met within available state and local resources. CCBs and SPOs provide services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities, so that they may exercise their rights to live, learn, play, and work in the community with the dignity, choices, opportunities, and responsibilities accorded all citizens. Above all, CCBs and SPOs believe that everyone has the inherent value and the right to full community inclusion.

To enter into Colorado's Community Centered System of services and supports, you must be determined eligible.  An individual applying for services may be placed on a waiting list to receive services and supports.
